Emma May and Ryan Millward have been friends since 2009 and decided to set up their practice in 2014. With Emma's audit background and Ryan's small to medium sized business expertise they are the perfect business match.
Emma has prepared and reviewed company accounts of varying sizes throughout her career having trained at Deloitte. More recently she has broadened her remit into personal taxation and advises on technical areas such as the the ever-changing rental property tax rules and tax implications of UK residents moving abroad.
Ryan has built up an extensive knowledge of the UK tax system as well as providing accounting and taxation services to limited companies across a wide range of industries. He specialises in the construction industry scheme (CIS) and assisting his clients with cloud solutions, among other things.
Their individual skill sets complement each other and they both have energy and enthusiasm for getting the best for their clients.

Meet the team
Emma May, BA ACA
Emma started her accountancy career on the Deloitte graduate scheme, where she qualified as a chartered accountant and managed audits across a wide range of industries, specialising in small and medium enterprises. She then moved into industry, leading monthly management reporting and financial planning processes at leading retailer, John Lewis plc. Since starting the practice, she has built on her knowledge and experience of working with small businesses as well as branching out into personal tax. She has worked with a number of start-ups as well as established businesses and has significant experience in using and implementing cloud accounting systems.
After hanging up her football boots in 2014, Emma took up triathlon and has since completed many events including Ironman UK 70.3 and more recently a 38 mile ultra marathon. She may even be tempted to do a full ironman soon!

Ryan Millward, BSc ACCA
Ryan grew up in the Wokingham area and attended the Forest School. After his A-Levels he studied Physics at Cardiff University and then worked for a local accountancy practice whilst studying for his professional qualification. Whilst there, he served a diversity of businesses and was able to build up his knowledge of the UK tax system. He is a fully qualified Chartered Certified Accountant.
He is a sports enthusiast and plays football to a relatively high standard which has allowed him to compete in the FA Cup for the past few years. His family roots are in the North of England, resulting in an unfortunate support for Bolton Wanderers FC.

Office Manager & Bookkeeper
Lynne Hassani, BA
After obtaining a degree in languages from Newcastle University, Lynne embarked upon a career in finance as office manager for a city-based corporate finance start-up, where she learnt bookkeeping and studied for the CIMA Diploma in Management Accounting. On moving to Berkshire in 2012, she joined a newly established consultancy business where she helped streamline their processes and brought their accounting in-house. Alongside her bookkeeping, Lynne has also built up a successful home-based business making wedding cakes.
Lynne met Emma through triathlon club, where they got chatting on rainy Saturday morning club cycle rides. She still trains, but Saturday mornings are now mainly devoted to her one year old son!

After completing her A-Levels at The Henley College, Laura took a gap year and travelled around Europe by rail. She is now starting her training with Millward, May & Co alongside studying with Kaplan Financial Business school in Reading to achieve the level 4 AAT qualification and become a fully qualified accountant.
Laura is a gym enthusiast and enjoys socialising with friends in her spare time.
