Expectations

Expectations

As an accounting and advisory firm, we focus on developing good working relationships with our clients. We believe that we can build positive relationships if the expectations of each party are clearly defined. As a result, we have listed what we expect from our clients and what you should expect from us in return.

What you should expect from us

  • We’ll be as responsive as we can. We aim to get back to all emails sent to our support@millwardmay.co.uk and payroll@millwardmay.co.uk inboxes within three working days.

  • We’ll provide proactive advice and feedback to you throughout the year - our clients love this and find it really helpful.

  • We’ll try our best not to use words that only people with an accountancy background can understand.

  • We’ll stay up to date with tax legislation.

  • We’ll update you on any filing requirements or deadlines.

  • We’ll be passionate about helping you and your business.

  • We’ll try to think of ways to make you and your business more tax efficient; improve your business systems; apply our broad experience to your situation; and simply aim to make your life easier.

What we expect from our clients

In order for us to deliver the service you should expect from us:

  • We’d expect you to provide us with timely responses:

    • Emails: as a general rule, you would get back to our emails within five working days (if possible).

    • Accounts and self-assessment: you would send us your records no later than three months after the period end.

    • Management accounts and VAT returns: you would send us your records no later than the 21st of the month after the period end.

    • Payroll: you would send us your payroll information (e.g. pay, new starters, leavers) no later than three days before the month end pay date (if possible).

  • You would stay on top of your online bookkeeping transactions at least every month. This enables you to see your figures in real time, us to provide you with real time advice and its easier for you to explain transactions if they have happened recently. If you are stuck at any point and need bookkeeping advice, please email us at support@millwardmay.co.uk so we can assist.

  • You would keep accurate records by taking care uploading receipts to your online bookkeeping software, writing explanations on any non standard expenses and asking us for advice on any expenses that you are unsure about claiming.

  • You would utilise our support and payroll email addresses:

  • You would treat our team with respect.

  • You would pay your creditors (i.e. businesses you owe money to) and taxes on time.
